European and World Day Against the Death Penalty
10-10 October 2013,

World Day against the Death Penalty was launched in 2003 by the World Coalition against the Death Penalty and has been held on 10 October every year since then. On 10 October 2013, the 11th World Day against the Death Penalty is dedicated to the Greater Caribbean where a core of countries remains strongly opposed to abolition.

The European Union welcomes the abolitionist trend worldwide and call on all countries which still retain the death penalty to immediately apply a moratorium on executions as a first step toward abolition. The European Union reaffirm its full commitment to promote abolition throughout the world.
