World Day Against the Death Penalty
10-10 October 2012,

World Day Against the Death Penalty was launched in 2003 by the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty and has been held on 10 October every year since then. The day is a focus for international action against capital punishment with the aim to obtain the worldwide abolition of the death penalty.

The European Union welcomes the abolitionist trend worldwide and call on all countries which still retain the death penalty to immediately apply a moratorium on executions as a first step toward abolition.
The European Union reaffirm its full commitment to promote abolition in Europe and throughout the world
